Do You Have Wireless Internet?
Yes. And we have indoor plumbing and running water too!
Do You Serve Lunch?
No. I admit that when I was practicing law, some of the best meals I had were during mediations I attended in Houston. However, I always felt like we paid for them dearly. Instead, here in Brenham, we have a number of quality restaurants downtown within walking distance. For full day mediations, once we approach the lunch hour (actually here in Brenham it’s called the “dinner hour,”) I let the party of the first part go eat while I’m meeting with the party of the second part and then allow the party of the second part to go eat when the party of the first part returns. Lawyers don’t get to eat (just kidding). We have found over the years that this approach has two advantages: 1) the parties and their attorneys get a break from sitting in a room for hours without delaying the mediation process and 2) they get to experience a little of the small Texas town charm that Brenham has to offer.
Do You Accept Credit Or Debit Cards?
Yes. We accept credit and debit cards but we pass the fees the companies charge us onto you. We euphemistically refer to it as a “convenience charge.” That fee usually runs in the neighborhood of 2.75%. For example, that turns out to be $13.75 added to a $500 fee, for those of you from Jasper.
What Is The Meaning Of Life?
This is a tougher one. Perhaps it helps if we phrase the question a bit differently. How ‘bout: “Why are we here?” W. H. Auden, one of the greatest writers and poets of the 20th century, said: “We are here on Earth to help others. What the others are here for, I have no idea.” Our mission is to help others get out of the legal system, one problem at a time.
